Writing For No One, Writing For Me

It’s not at all surprising but today I enabled site stats using JetPack((https://jetpack.com/)) and saw that my site has had zero visitors. As I mentioned I’m not at all surprised by this since I’ve told no one about it. In the past, I’ve wanted to have a successful blog with a community and, to be honest, to make a bit of money but chasing that idea led me down the path of trying to write about stuff I didn’t care about. I’ve finally reached the point where I don’t care about any of that anymore. I want to write and I want to write about things I care about and that I find interesting.

The reason this post exists is that I was sort of holding out hope that one of these random posts would’ve generated some traffic. I’m not disappointed that they didn’t but it’s just funny to me that after all these years and all the blogging attempts I still think about that. One of my goals this year is to write regularly and it just so happens that most search engines like bloggers that post on a regular schedule. There is no perfect time to write, I try to remind myself to just sit down and write when an idea happens. I don’t have to post it then but I can get the thought out of my head and get something on “paper” so I can come back to it later. So far that’s come out to 8 posts that are scheduled over the next couple of weeks. I’ve never committed to a posting schedule before since I was writing about things I didn’t really care about it was a struggle to actually write them but just writing about anything my heart desires is making content creation much easier. I’m thinking about Sunday and Wednesday as my posting days each week. That seems to be when I’m scheduling most posts. For now, I’ll just leave it as “a couple of times a week” and see how things go.
